The next install­ment of Mad­den NFL 13 will fea­ture brand new announc­ers. This will include the well-known CBS duo of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms, who will be call­ing the mad­den action in the booth. As usual, Nantz does the play-by-play while Simms pro­vides the analy­sis. The two will be enter­ing their ninth sea­son together this year. As of this point, it is uncer­tain whether they will be the only broad­cast crew for Mad­den NFL 13, or if they will be some sort of a sec­ondary group after Gus John­son and Chris Collinsworth.

The tour­na­ment bracket that will deter­mine the Mad­den 13 cover ath­lete has reached the final four, semi­fi­nals. On one side we will have Cam New­ton tak­ing on Patrick Willis, while on the other side it will be Aaron Rodgers verses Calvin Johnson.

The only pos­si­ble sur­prise from the pre­vi­ous round is that Willis man­aged to get passed Vic­tor Cruz. No other defen­sive player really made a push in the tour­na­ment other than Willis.

Vot­ing in the this semi­fi­nal round will run until next Wednes­day an is com­pleteted through ESPN.

ESPN has posted a new Mad­den NFL 13 screen­shot fea­tur­ing Adrian Peter­son and Brian Urlacher.

Art direc­tor, Jean Adams includes a few more bits of infor­ma­tion about the new Nike uni­forms and how crazy it was to keep the infor­ma­tion from leaking.

The mate­r­ial actual changes the col­ors for some of the teams,” he says. “The Buc­ca­neers color shifts a lit­tle bit with the pants, and the Saints, they usu­ally have gold, but the way the uni­form is mat­ted, it changes the way it looks slightly. All of the cuts and designs are all very angu­lar, and the stitch­ing around the col­lar is very unique and will be really notice­able to a lot of the fans watch­ing the games. There is also a new look to the pants where a lot of play­ers are going to incor­po­rate what looks like the Pro Combat-style pads to their thighs and knees, and that’s very distinct.

“I think when peo­ple play ‘Mad­den’ and they zoom in, they are going to notice a lot of the cool lit­tle details, because every­thing from the stitch­ing to the pip­ing is dif­fer­ent. The pants are dif­fer­ent because they have a jer­sey mesh on the side, and they’ve never had that, so I think gamers are going to appre­ci­ate that we have all of the details right. We even have some of the details and jer­seys Nike hasn’t revealed just yet. There are a lot of great alter­nate uni­forms this year that peo­ple are going to love. There are some big sur­prises that are com­ing with hel­mets and things like that, that peo­ple don’t know about. I can’t wait until they see it in the game.

EA Sports has just released its first cou­ple of screen­shots for Mad­den NFL 13 which dis­play the new jer­seys by Nike. Some new char­ac­ter­is­tics that come with the Reebok’s design are a use of new mate­ri­als, tighter fits, gloves that when hands are put together cre­ate the team logo like a puz­zle, and var­i­ous other minor alterations.

Fea­tured in the Mad­den 13 screen shots are the Bal­ti­more Ravens uniforms.

The Mad­den NFL 13 cover tour­na­ment has reached it’s sec­ond round and there are now 16 con­tenders left.

The biggest news is prob­a­bly the fact that Arian Fos­ter has knocked out Tim Tebow in the first round. Of course, this isn’t all that sur­pris­ing because Tebow didn’t have much of a fan base for about a week. Fos­ter is now fac­ing Calvin John­son who owned his first round com­pe­ti­tion with 92% of the votes.

You have until next Wednes­day to vote in this round until the tour­na­ment advances to the elite eight.

Last year, it was Pey­ton Hillis. Where is he now?

There are some that are start­ing to think that fans of Mad­den, in light of the very real Mad­den curse, will be vot­ing against some of their favorite play­ers in order to not see them fall fic­tim to the Mad­den curse. Given how sur­pris­ing it was that Hillis would win last year, it all makes per­fect sense. There were many more pop­u­lar play­ers in the race last year, includ­ing final­ist Michael Vick after a superb season.

In any case, we need not be sur­prised if we end up seing a 14 or 15th seed on the cover this year.
